This photo was taken in April 2009 while visiting family in Pennsylvania at the farm where my mother grew up. This was simply a shot across a field, taken while several of us were in the front yard talking. The Amish have lived in this area for over 30 years. I am fortunate that my cousin knows many of them. When I saw a sign about woven rugs, I said I would like to see some of them. A half hour later I was inside an Amish home, viewing a sample of rugs by kerosene lantern and seeing the loom on which they were woven, a two-harness counterbalanced floor loom they picked up used for $80. I’d like to spend more time with them, to learn more about their farming practices.
What a fantastic photo. You should submit that to a photo contest, or make a large print, frame it and hang it in your house.
